Urban Grit joined Woodway Farm from Olly Murphy’s yard in January, having shown good placed form under rules in NHFs and novice hurdles.
‘Grit’ has fitted into the yard well, and has enjoyed schooling over fences plenty, showing lots of scope. He does like to keep his jockey’s on their toes and he shows plenty of enthusiasm with his day to day work.
With his schooling at home going brilliantly, we were keen to make his PTP debut in the Maiden race at Didmarton on Saturday 4th March with Izzie aboard. Grit jumped and travelled well, and the early sedate pace quickly escalated coming to the fourth last fence. He breezed past his rivals to the front with ease, quickening away very well to win comfortably by 8 lengths.
It was really pleasing to see Grit run a very confident race, and he is sure to go through the grades in PTPs this season. We will look to run him in a Restricted in April.
